We run our workshops everyday except for Thursdays and Sundays at either 10.30 or 14.00 as and when people would like to do them. Booking is required.

DO WE NEED TO BOOK?

Yes booking is needed especially in the holidays we do get booked up quickly so book early to avoid disappointment. Bookings can be made over the phone, through email, Facebook messenger and in person at the workshop.

DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?

You do not need to bring anything with you. For our fused glass shop you can make your own design so feel free to bring your ideas/designs with you. We do not have running water in the workshop so you may wish to bring a drink with you although available to purchase from the cafe next door

WHATS INCLUDED IN THE WORKSHOPS?

Included in the £45 workshop fee is tuition, set amount of glass and firing costs. It also includes one standard wall fixing/mount. Additional glass and fixings can be purchased on the day.

FAQ: FAQ

WHEN CAN I TAKE MY PIECE HOME AND HOW LONG ARE THE WORKSHOPS?

Fused glass workshops are approximately 2 hours. Tiffany glass 2 1/2 to 3 hours. The fused glass does need to go into the kiln overnight so is not ready to collect until 48 hrs after. If holes are required of if you would like the glass mounted onto a piece of driftwood this takes time and can only be done between workshops and we now need to include time to fully sanitise work area and all tools

DOES IT MATTER WHAT I WEAR?

Any clothes are fine to wear and aprons are available if needed.

The glass splinters can go on your lap so trousers are best however aprons are available. Please no open toe shoes, especially flip flops (you will get splinters in your feet). If you have long hair it is easier and safer to work with it tied up.

IS THE GLASS SHARP, WILL I GET CUT?

Yes, glass is sharp. You will be cutting the glass yourself and the glass does have sharp edges and also splinters. It is safe to work with but please leave moving big sheets to us as we know the best way to handle them. We provide mats to cut on to easily remove the glass shards and also provide gloves when needed. As long as you are sensible and remember you are working with glass and listen to our guidance through the stages you can usually leave injury free :-) However we do have a good supply of plasters!

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN ATTEND A SESSION?

We recently refurbished our shop and workspace. We can fit 3 people in for a session but really we're comfortably set up for 2 people. Our friends at Teylu glass can accomodate larger group sizes (includingf parties, hen dos etc) and also sessions for the younger ones. Please contact for more information on this and to see what we can do for you

FAQ: FAQ

DO YOU SUPPLY REFRESHMENTS AND DO YOU HAVE A TOILET?

Unfortunately we do not provide refreshments. We do not have running water in the workshops and its not the safest to be eating or drinking whilst cutting glass. The Olive tree bistro next door to us are more than happy to deliver tea/coffee into the workshop if you would like to purchase from them (unfortunately we can not afford to provide this within the workshop cost). We also find a lot of our customers 'get in the zone' and often don't want to stop especially as most of the workshops are less than a few hours.

We do not have a toilet in the workshop but there is one next door at the Olive tree or across the road at the tourist information centre

WHY DOES IT COST £5 TO HAVE GLASS PUT ON A PIECE OF DRIFTWOOD?

All our driftwood is collected locally. Its not always easy to find and usually means going down to the beach in the winter, usually climbing down cliffs and over rock pools (its quite hard work and dangerous carrying heavy wet driftwood for miles). The driftwood then has to be stored and dried for at least a couple of months before it can be used. We then have to plane or sand the base to be flat. Then we use a pendant drill to make a groove for the glass to sit in and use 2 part epoxy resin to stick it in. So its quite a long process which usually gets over looked but we think its worth it with how the glass and wood complement each other.

DO I HAVE TO MAKE SOMETHING FROM THE SHOP AND DO YOU HAVE TEMPLATES?

The Tiffany glass can be a little more restrictive due to the process so only certain designs are possible.

The fused glass is a bit more 'free' so you can do you own design in this workshop but templates are available for the designs we have in the shop if you would like to use those.

There is a set amount of glass within the workshop price. If you would like to make something bigger this is possible with purchase of extra glass used. If you do wish to go bigger please discuss before hand and this usually cant be done within holiday times as there's not always extra room in the kiln

CAN YOU USE ANY GLASS?

You can use any glass in for the Tiffany  style. For the fused glass specific fusing glass is required so that it has the same expansion rate. This has been manufactured so that all the glass can melt at the same temperature and time in the kiln (otherwise the glass would crack). The process to do this does make the glass more expensive and why we have set amounts available to use on workshops
